THE SCIENCE OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR
In clear and unambiguous terms, behavior is what people do.
In keeping with this simple definition, behavior analysis is the scientific discipline that seeks to understand why we do what we do. It is a natural science, rather than a social science such as psychology, because it relies on direct observation and repeated measurement rather than statistical analysis and inference.
As we learn, our behavior changes. Thus, simply stated, behavior analysis is the science of learning. Professionals in our field place special emphasis on identifying those factors that reliably influence the behavior of individuals. This allows us to provide highly focused assistance to individuals or groups who seek to develop new and effective skills, even while sustaining or improving upon behavior that has already proven successful in their chosen area of interest.
The science of behavior analysis focuses on socially significant behavior – meaningful actions and skills that work for the individual in their everyday lives — in a broad array of areas, including but not limited to:
- Effective organizational change
- Skill building
- Workplace Safety
- Healthy habits (eating, exercise)
- Problems with substance abuse
- The treatment of pervasive developmental disabilities (e.g. ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders)
ABA Technologies Inc. has created a team of skilled practitioners, teachers, and life long learners of the science of human behavior.
