Abstract

We are eager for you to join us as we explore how cultural responsiveness can create more equitable spaces for ourselves and those we interact with. To start the session, Janani Vaidya discusses what social equity really means, unpacking privilege and how it shapes interactions and explaining how bias can throw roadblocks on the path to social justice. They will walk us through critical theories and frameworks that show how systemic oppression takes root. Then Corina steps in to break down what kyriarchy is and introduce womanist and mujeristsa perspectives. The session will conclude with strategies for cultural responsiveness and practical steps to translate it into action.
