Kelly Melhorn

Kelly Melhorn is currently enrolled in the Master’s in Behavior Analysis Practice program to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She has a prior Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Biology from Bemidji State University located in Bemidji, Minnesota and an Associates Degree in Animal Technology from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology located in Denver, Colorado. In 2018, Kelly's oldest child was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder called Selective Mutism. This disorder prevented her daughter from speaking in certain situations or to people outside the immediate family. Over the course of their journey, Kelly realized how few resources and professionals there were that treated children, teens, and adults with Selective Mutism. In 2020, Kelly enrolled in FIT's Behavior Analysis Practice program while simultaneously creating Selective Mutism H.E.L.P. (Home Educational Learning Program). Selective Mutism H.E.L.P. is an online resource to give parents, teachers, and other treating professionals a place to learn more about this misunderstood diagnosis. Selective Mutism H.E.L.P. is also used as a platform to host free online summits specific to topics pertaining to Selective Mutism. Since 2020, Kelly has been the host and sole organizer of three online summits which have had close to 5000 registrants from over 50 different countries around the world.  Starting in 2021, Kelly began releasing monthly podcast episodes and, to date, she has released 17 different episodes which have had over 6000 downloads. In 2022, Kelly was selected to be a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi as she has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her Graduate Program and Behavior Analytic Coursework. Kelly's greatest achievement has been working with her daughter to help her completely overcome her Selective Mutism.
