Dr. Julie S. Vargas is an author and educator and is the oldest daughter of B. F. and Eve Skinner. Dr. Vargas founded the B. F. Skinner Foundation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and currently serves as its president. She received a bachelor’s degree in music from Radcliffe College, a master’s degree in music education from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in educational research from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Vargas was a faculty member at West Virginia University from 1966 to 2004, where she worked with prospective and practicing teachers and published three books on contingency management in education. She was also one of the founding editors of The Behavior Analyst and a former president of the Association for Behavior Analysis International. Dr. Vargas is dedicated to disseminating the applications of the natural science of the behavior of organisms.
