Sexuality & Sexuality Instruction with Learners with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Abstract
As behavior analysts and practitioners, our job is to focus on the behaviors of our clients and to teach them a repertoire that promotes self-reliance and safety. However, when it comes to sexuality, which is just sexual behaviors, it becomes an issue. It is not uncommon to hear individuals joke about sexuality and the topic of sex, but when a serious discussion needs to be made, tension rises. Playing such a large role in the development of our clients, it is essential that we become comfortable with discussing it ourselves. In this course, you will take the first steps in tackling this matter as well as beginning to build up your own repertoire.
