“This book provides a framework for success for educational leaders, rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Leadership roles in education are many and varied, but what sets the most effective educational leaders apart is their ability to motivate, support, and inspire others to achieve success. Quick Wins! delivers a practical and comprehensive roadmap that will empower educational leaders to support positive change and impact school, teacher, and student achievement.”

“Schools in need of major improvements are often characterized by student behaviors that are out of control and staffed by educators that are frustrated and suffering from a lack of belief in themselves and in even the remote possibly of meaningful change. These conditions usually lead to high teacher turnover, parents demanding improvements, academic and social under-performance, a lack of safety, and stress and anxiety for everyone.

Often the impetus for school improvement involves a few simple things that make an immediate and powerful difference. The authors explore these conditions in real world situations and advocate that every worthy endeavor requires effective leaders to become true agents of change by applying the science of behavior theory (Organizational Behavior Management, OBM) in the workplace. They introduce the reader to the concept of Quick Wins, a science-based set of principles that are the “rocket fuel” for school leaders to transform failing schools into safe, affirming, valuing, and effective learning environments.

Some of the core components of the approach are positive and systemic leadership, the collective examination of shared values that drive behaviors, training, goal setting and data collection, frequent review and analysis of the data, continuous feedback, and strategies that ensure sustainability.

Applying the science of human behavior through the evidence-based approaches of Quick Wins requires leaders, faculty, and staff to examine and re-examine their core beliefs and values and exercise the courage to make changes and refinements in their own behaviors before improvements in student behavior and performance can emerge. These processes allow every voice to be heard creating ownership that energizes people toward lasting change in what is best for the students and communities they serve. Gavoni and Costa provide practical and profound avenues that will enrich your personal and professional life and the tools and skills to turn your school into everything you can imagine it to be.”

"As a national consultant and former principal, I've had the pleasure to work with Dr. Gavoni and see quick wins in action before writing a book on the subject was ever a consideration.  Though it is written from behavior scientists' point of view,  I found the book to be very practical and full of leadership gems that are presented in an authentic and engaging manner.  Honestly, anybody charged with improving schools should read this book. It fills in so many gaps that too many educational leaders seem to miss in regards to improving performance."
- National consultant and Former school principal Dr. Kisha Bellande-Francis

Just what I needed! I had a lot of training 1:1 and even classroom behavior management, some of which I’ve helped schools apply, but the tools this book has is for an overall system of behavior management, client to students, to teachers, to administration, which I can use, and I feel every school needs! I wish this book could be an entire course. Or at least a workshop with ongoing coaching/consultation. So valuable and so systematic! I love all the checklists! Thank you!
