I have a bunch of material, but when do I apply it? To whom? To what scale? How? Karin Torsiello discusses the need to refine our interactions with all parties involved in the treatment of a client, emphasizing the steps needed to ensure an effective intervention. By considering successful and unsuccessful outcomes, this CE will provide you with the skillset to identify when an intervention is needed and to what degree.
As Karin Torsiello says, anger and aggression are to be expected in clinical practice and so it is important to learn and address these behaviors in the foster care population. Karin Torsiello discusses the expression of anger and aggression in children, where this may originate, the influence of trauma, and how to treat and manage anger and aggression. This presentation ends by offering tools and activities for providers to use or give to guardians of children to assist in managing anger and aggression.
As behavior analysts, we currently must renew our certification every two years by gaining a number of BACB CEUs—either 20 for BCaBAs or 32 for BCBAs. It is true that many professionals often get preoccupied with the day-to-day tasks in front of them: the tasks that have more immediate consequences. If they do not have time to attend conferences, they often end up trying to accrue most, or all, of their required CEUs immediately before the due date to renew their certification (fixed-interval pattern of responding, anyone?).
Employers have much responsibility when it comes to taking care of their employees. From setting up 401K’s, providing on-going training, to building a culture of excellence. While each is equally important, health programs are often missing. Our overall health fluctuates day-to-day, and if it is not taken care of, it will slowly deteriorate.
This powerful technique is based in scientific research on learning and performance, and works within any field to accelerate achievement and performance for all outcomes. CEOs of Fortune 500 companies have used it to realize fiscal growth and positive culture change, while school leaders have re-energized failing schools.
“I believe completely that Applied Behavior Analysis is and has been a huge influence in the child welfare arena for many years in the state of Florida. Our positive and productive gains are promising, and we need to compel more behavior analyst clinicians to go out there and replicate this work nationwide.” Karin Torsiello, MS, BCBA
… but to have serious, open, honest discussion about human sexuality, it’s something most of us would rather not do. Peter F. Gerhardt, EdD
Once upon a time, there was a couple named by their shared editions. The BACB® Standards and the BACB® Task List were long-standing partners known for their synchronized updates. But in 2022, to reaffirm their separate and distinct purposes, the BACB® announced a split in the marriage of the Task List and the Standards. The split also comes with a name change.
Much like the bar exam covers the content a law student needs to know before entering the field of law, the BACB® Task List has long served as the guide to the knowledge and skills on which a student of behavior analysis will be tested before entering the field as a certified behavior analyst.
